Real Life. Real Experience.
Next Step - Real Life
What is Truth? What is beauty? What is society? Who is God? What does it mean to be fully human? Who am I? These are the questions students wrestle with, and find answers to, in the CreatEd Core.
In the 12-month Excel program, students begin taking the next steps to embody the answers to these questions in the context of real life and real time. They will walk through three phases – Assessment, Advancement Plan, and Marketplace – to begin entering into the marketplace as fully alive followers of Jesus.
They will work with Excel staff, peers, and mentors in the community to learn about themselves, find their strengths, and begin impacting the world around them through personality, economic, and health assessments, budget creation, job search, one-on-one mentoring and accountability, and more.
“”Through Excel, I have had the opportunity to build websites for local businesses and work on marketing videos for some of the top non-profits in the southeast. Because of my experience here, I know I can thrive in the marketplace. I now understand on an entirely new level what it means to live out my faith in all areas of my life, including my vocation.”
Phase I: Assesments
During the first phase of Excel, students undergo thorough assessments to give themselves and Excel staff insight into their current economic, professional, and health profiles. They will also work through some of the top personality indicators on the market to begin determining a path into the marketplace that best utilizes their strengths and makes them come alive.
Phase II: Advancement Plan
During Phase II, our Excel staff works with students to craft a self-directed “advancement plan” for the year. This plan will be crafted with much prayer, wisdom, and discernment from the Holy Spirit, and will serve as a guideline throughout the year as students test their strengths in the marketplace, build financial health, and grow physically, spiritually, and emotionally.
Phase III: Marketplace
Phase III of Excel is where students begin to get real experience (and real accountability) in the marketplace. Students will be out in the community, working full-time jobs with one of our partner organizations, beginning to walk out what it looks like to take what they learned about Truth, Beauty, and Goodness in the CreatEd Core and apply it to the practicality of marketplace life. Along with our Excel staff, coaches and mentors from our network will work with students to craft and maintain budgets, develop professional skills, grow spiritually and emotionally, and prepare to be productive members of the community.
